The 5% Rule

The 5% rule states that you should exclusively focus the majority of your time and energy on the 5% of things that only you can do…

Can you let go of the smaller tasks in your life that could easily be outsourced to others? What could you do with the time won back from unloading these activities? Yes, you can do them. No, you’re not above doing them… But how much more impactful could you be if you spent your time differently?

Delegation is not a tool used to escape these responsibilities; you do so to win back time to fulfill your higher purpose. When you delegate, you do not remove yourself from the responsibility or ownership of their completion; you still must ensure that they are done (and done correctly). You are still the one ultimately on the hook for all of it.

Everything big, great, and complex started with something small and easy—the first step. Are you willing to take this step and start focusing on the most impactful efforts? Or will you be satisfied staying busy with the less meaningful chores?
