The Rat Race
“It is not the man who has too little, but the man who craves more, that is poor.” – Seneca
Everywhere you look, busyness surrounds you. Society seems caught in an endless race—people scurrying from here to there, stress and anxiety seeping from their pores. You can feel the tension in their energy as you pass them on the street, the lines in their brows revealing a history of worry and relentless focus.
When you look in the mirror, do you see the same reflection? Shoulders tense, bearing the weight of stress—does your energy echo the same strain of those preoccupied with the endless chase? Pursuing selfish gain and running in a race that often offers hollow rewards, if any at all.
Take a moment to observe this, and remind yourself of your true purpose. Resist the urge to surrender to society's empty stressors. Move methodically, consciously, through the world, staying true to yourself. Avoid the unnecessary suffering that stems from losing yourself in the chaos around you.
