Pay It Forward

Pay it forward to the future you. Do so in even the smallest of ways: returning items to their proper place when you are done, or even as seemingly meaningless as making sure your socks are turned right-side-out after you take them off. Eat good food and avoid gorging yourself. Get rest, exercise, and stretch regularly. Your focus on the smallest of things will aid you in the larger things. Do not skip the details in these efforts. If you must, have the conversation and do not delay, or else your future self will carry anxiety and worry. These are all acts of kindness toward yourself and lighten the weight your future self must carry. Free your future self to be capable of taking full advantage of unforeseen opportunities that may suddenly present themselves. Do not burden your future self and leave them without the capacity to seize such opportunities, or worse, equip them with more excuses. The future you will thank the present you for such small (and large) acts.
