Execution Matters

Become competent and know that above all else, what matters is your ability to do the job. In this area, it is simple and binary: you either can do the job or you cannot. This is not dismissive of your journey or the progress you are making. Rather, at the end of the day, it is the simple reality of what transpires and what does not. As Yoda said, “There is no try. Do or do not.”

You cannot lead others or be relied upon for a thing merely because you are passionate about it, have read about it, etc. You must consistently prove yourself competent through successful execution.
