Balance Will and Flexibility

“Flexibility is the key to stability.” — John Wooden

Your will is strong, but relying solely on it to overcome obstacles may not always yield the desired results. It’s important to be versatile in your approach to challenges. Sometimes, alternative skills or methods are needed. Avoid being a one-trick pony.

For example, instead of always leaning into your willpower, try using opposite actions. Step back to gain a different perspective, rather than simply pushing harder. It’s like backing a screw out of hardwood slightly before you’re able to drive it all the way in.

Remember, you may not always be able to counter willpower with more willpower. Loosening your grip can sometimes be the key to progress. Yet, this doesn’t mean there aren’t moments when strengthening your grip is necessary. There are times when all you need is one final push to break the seal and open the jar.
