AVOID EXCESS
Do not allow yourself to become consumed by excess. Resist the urge to accumulate more than you truly need. Refuse the excess of words, or unnecessary actions. Like Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) wrote, "We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like."
Excessiveness in any form is wasteful. When you have too much energy, you find yourself restless or anxious, seeking ways to burn it off. When you have too much food, you end up throwing it away or overindulging like a glutton. Even in communication, excessive words only lead to confusion rather than clarity.
Consider the clutter in your home or closet—more than you could ever need or truly enjoy. Why do you accumulate these things? Is it to impress others, to validate yourself, or to mask deeper insecurities? The pursuit of excess is both tragic and wasteful.
Embrace simplicity in all aspects of your life. Use efficient words to convey your thoughts and ideas clearly. Resist the temptation to surround yourself with people or possessions that do not bring genuine joy or fulfillment.
Avoiding excess will lead you to be truer to yourself while also find greater happiness and contentment. Let go of the need for excess and embrace the beauty of simplicity.
