Against Irrational Fears

“Do not anticipate trouble or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.” – Benjamin Franklin

Often, irrational fears are at the root of much of our discomfort, breeding poor decisions and unhealthy behaviors that do not uplift your character. Acknowledge such thoughts, but ground yourself and dismiss them quickly before they can take root.

Ruminating on these thoughts is wasteful and counterproductive. Recognize them, then clear them from your mind. Imagine your mind as a fortress, guarded daily—sometimes hourly—by a vigilant defense. Feed your inner “troops” with strength and resilience to fend off unnecessary fears. This is not a one-time task but a continuous habit, a practice that requires dedication to maintain peace within.
