Defeating the Inner Demon

Inside your mind, you hear the voices of many demons. One that clamors and claws for your full attention with evil intent is the voice laced with negativity. This demon is a liar. Through honest reflection, you see this voice is irrational, exaggerated, and out of touch with reality. While it is difficult, you must confront this voice’s lies.

If you entertain it for too long, it will begin to ensnare you in its deceit. Allowing it an audience without contest gives it an unhealthy foothold, distorting your reality. This inner demon will try to convince you of your specialness and entitlement, aiming to isolate you and make you believe you are larger than the connected universe, that your life is static. It bombards you with accusations, insisting, “you are a failure,” and, “you will never be good enough!” These statements are false. The universe, including you, is constantly evolving.

This inner adversary will stop at nothing, convinced it rules the universe. Unattended, it will overwhelm you, clouding your perception of the factual world. Before disillusionment drowns you, intervene with vigor and aggression.

The demon taints and destroys all it touches when ignored. You risk becoming enslaved under its weight. Unsheathe a sword of gratefulness to slay this demon. Against such a force, it has no power.

Gratefulness should not be confused with mere positive thinking. Gratefulness is grounded in the present reality, while positive thinking often focuses on unmanifested possibilities. You must anchor yourself to reality.

As you seek out things for which you are grateful, notice how it reconnects you with the universe, rather than isolating you from it. Fight back against this demon, leveraging the powerful force of gratefulness, and reclaim control over your mind. Do not be enslaved by its lies.
