Act Without Expectation
You have done something good and now find yourself waiting for words of acknowledgment or appreciation. This is a waste of time and an unfair expectation you place on others. Do not wait for the validation of others. Do the right thing, the kind thing, the good thing, simply because it is the right thing to do.
Stop expecting others to help trigger some desired emotion within you. This is foolish, weak, and highly unreliable. You must act in a way that you know is good and be satisfied with the act alone. Move in a way that expects nothing in return, as if done in secret, and in this way, you not only do what is right but also guard yourself against unfulfilled expectations that rely on the reactions of others.
Stop seeking external validation and be fully independent in your actions.
